The movie depicts human relations during busy life in Hanoi, with the characters including a rural shoeshine boy, an old couple, and an elderly musician who teaches a choir full of blind children. Running with the theme of “Cinema – Humanity, Adaptation and Development”, the festival will be held by the culture ministry’s Cinema Department to honour the excellent international and Vietnamese cinematographic works which boast high artistic value, are rich in humanity, and showcase creativity in cinematic language. Awards will be presented at the closing night ceremony to be held at the Friendship Palace at 91 Tran Hung Dao street. The festival looks set to attract 800 delegates from across the globe. Chu Xuan Dung, vice chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Nao Hayashi, representative of UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Asia-Pacific, Marie Laure Lavenir, director general of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), and Christian Manhart, UNESCO representative in Vietnam, are present at the function. The site comprises three zones, including one for artefacts from the Ly and Tran Dynasties and another for those from the Le and Mac Dynasties. Among the exhibits are various pieces of ceramics used as decoration inside the royal palace and those used to serve royal families both daily and on special occasions, such as festivals, the Kings’ birthday, and coronation ceremonies.
