First National Cultural Museum Opens with Display of Buddhist Antiquities

The museum exhibits hundreds of Buddhism-related objects which date back to the seventh century to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. On display at the museum are hundreds of Buddhist antiques which have been enshrined within the pagoda and have been collected by the pagoda’s former abbots. The exhibited items feature Buddhist arts and Buddhist culture of both Vietnam and several other Asian countries. Each of the displayed artifacts carries an array of Buddhist stories, legends, and beliefs. The image depicts a reclining Buddha statue. The artifacts at the museum are made from numerous different materials such as bronze and jade. Vietnamese Photographer Takes Home Top Prize at ProArtist Awards 2023

The photo depicts fishing nets arranged in the coastal area of Phu Yen, a central province. The arrangement creates the shape of a dolphin swimming in the sea. A remarkable moment captured is when a fisherman’s small basket boat, painted red, maneuvers into the perfect position, perfectly aligning with the dolphin shape and showcasing a detailed eye. “The delicate wisps of the fishing net hang beautifully beneath the water’s surface, resembling a majestic sea creature,” remarked Ruben Wu, a judge of the contest and a visual artist and photographer. Thai Viet Hoan, the winner of the competition, was awarded a cash prize of US$10,000. Discovering Vietnam’s Natural Splendour Through Art

An exhibition titled “Our Country” is currently taking place in Hanoi to mark the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. The exhibition showcases over 80 exceptional landscape paintings created between 1930 and 2007. The paintings, carefully selected from the museum’s modern art collection, were crafted by renowned artists from different generations, including graduates of the Indochina Art School, artists trained in Resistance Art courses, and younger artists. Vietnam and UK Strengthen Economic Ties with Multifaceted Partnership

Prior to the 5-day visit, UK International Trade Minister Nigel Huddleston spoke about the significant contribution of the Vietnam-UK trade partnership to the diplomatic relations between the two countries over the last 50 years. The trade relationship between the UK and Vietnam has continued to strengthen, with the total trade volume reaching £6.9 billion in 2022. This represents a 29% increase from 2021 and nearly double the figure from 2013. Minister Huddleston expressed his eagerness to meet with his counterparts in Vietnam to explore new opportunities and support UK businesses in accessing the dynamic Vietnamese market. The UK currently has 536 direct investment projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of US $4.28 billion. This makes the UK the 15th largest foreign investor in the country. Initiative Launched to Celebrate Vietnamese Language in Global Communities by 2024

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has agreed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ proposal for a 2024 plan to mark the Day for Honouring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad (September 8) next year, according to VNA. Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will collaborate with relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to implement activities within the framework of the plan. These activities will promote the expats’ maintenance of their mother tongue and recognize and encourage exemplary individuals who contribute to the preservation of the language in the communities. The funding for implementing the plan will come from the state budget, sponsorships, support from organizations and individuals in Vietnam and abroad, and other sources in accordance with regulations.
