Vietnamese tennis star shoots up ATP rankings

Nam’s breakthrough followed his excellent performance in the final of the Challenger 50 Bangkok Open 2022, which is part of the ATP Challenger Tour system, in Thailand over the weekend.

Despite losing to Monaco’s No. 1 player Valentin Vacherot in the final, the runner-up title came with a US$3,050 prize and awarded Nam 30 more accumulated points in the ATP rankings.

These 30 points sent Nam from 328th place to 290th in the world rankings with a total of 169 points.

Since the beginning of June, the Vietnamese tennis star has jumped a total of 187 notches in the ATP rankings after four championships and one second prize in the ITF World Tennis Tour tournaments and one runner-up title in the ATP Challenger Tour.

“He is the first athlete in Vietnam’s tennis history to reach the final of an ATP Challenger Tour event,” said Tran Quoc Phong, Nam’s coach, adding that the Vietnamese tennis player is preparing for two more tournaments in the ATP Challenger Tour system in Thailand to achieve a higher world ranking before returning home.

Unique plants on display at Hanoi Ornamental Creatures Festival 2022

The event features a wider range of unique ornamental trees and bonsai worth several hundreds to billions of VND. This piece named “Hoang Long Vu De” is valued at VND3 billion, equivalent to US$126,370. Another piece, named “Vu Hoi Long Hoa”, is offered at a price in the tens of billions of VND. The age-old tree often has a massive, mossy trunk. A gardener brings his ornamental tree to the festival, offering it at VND3.5 billion, equal to US$147,431. Vietnam-Japan Diplomacy Marked with Magnificent LED Light Show Celebrating 50 Years

The light display at Bien Dong Park in Da Nang, Vietnam, features three scenes inspired by the iconic flowers of both Vietnam and Japan – lotus and sakura (cherry blossom), respectively. The display consists of 500,000 LED lights, symbolizing the 50 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
