Visitors to Hanoi increases five times in Jan-Nov

In the first eleven months of 2022, about 17 million visitors have chosen Hanoi as their destination, up five times from the same period last year, according to the municipal Tourism Department.

The figure includes 1.27 million international tourists and 15.75 million domestic arrivals. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND48.35 trillion (US$1.9 billion), increasing five times on year.

In November alone, Hanoi hosted 1.61 million visitors, including 1.35 million from other localities nationwide and 255,000 foreigners, and earned VND4.39 trillion ($176 million) from tourism, five times higher than the same period last year.

Notably, the total number of international visitors to Hanoi in 11 months has reached 1.27 million, fulfilling the target set for the whole year of 2022. 

The average occupancy rate in hotels in November is estimated at 36.1%, an increase of 14.7% over the same period in 2021.

The result comes from the fact that Hanoi has taken advantage of tourism opportunities such as the 31st SEA Games, organized a series of events to stimulate demand and promote tourism such as the Hanoi Tourism Program to welcome 2022, Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2022, Hanoi International Tourism Fair 2022, Hanoi Food and Handicraft Village Tourism Festival, among others.

Besides, the city’s tourism sector has deployed many tourism products to attract visitors, including night tour at Hoa Lo Prison relic, Thang Long Imperial Citadel; the northern highland market program of the Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village of Vietnam; activities at Bao Son Paradise Park; double-decker bus tour “Hanoi City Tour”; walking tour “French architecture in the heart of Hanoi.”

Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that Hanoi will take robust measures to boost tourism in December. “The city will hold the Hanoi Ao Dai Festival 2022 and a contest to select Hanoi Tourism Ambassador and another to choose the musical theme of the city’s tourism sector. Besides, the city will focus on investing in a number of models of agricultural and rural tourism development in the period of 2022-2025,” she said.

Moreover, Hanoi will continue nurturing critical tourism services such as cultural tourism, sports tourism, meeting-incentive-conference-exhibition (MICE), experiential tourism, Red River travel, helicopter/hot air balloon tour, and virtual reality application visits. These will be the highlights of the capital city’s travel sector in the near future, Giang added.

Cooperation with other provinces would also be strengthened to promote package tours to different localities by organizing festivals and events.

“Hanoi will coordinate with other localities to form tourist routes, focusing on key markets in the north, Ho Chi Minh City, and the southern provinces, Central Highlands, to build attractive and professional tours which are imbued with the capital city’s cultural identity and towards international integration,” Giang stressed.

Unique plants on display at Hanoi Ornamental Creatures Festival 2022

The event features a wider range of unique ornamental trees and bonsai worth several hundreds to billions of VND. This piece named “Hoang Long Vu De” is valued at VND3 billion, equivalent to US$126,370. Another piece, named “Vu Hoi Long Hoa”, is offered at a price in the tens of billions of VND. Vietnam-Japan Diplomacy Marked with Magnificent LED Light Show Celebrating 50 Years
