Discover Hon Cau, Binh Thuan – A Unique Destination For Young Travelers

Hon Cau, also known as Cu Lao Cau, is a small island in Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province, about 110 km from Phan Thiet city. Hon Cau is one of the most beautiful and special islands with an area of 140ha, belonging to Con Dao District with underground freshwater sources. Along with Dam Trau beach, Hon Cau is a wonderful place that draws tourists in during holiday time.

In the dry season, the seawater in Hon Cau is bluer and crystal clear, which makes it extremely attractive and alluring. Not only that, but this island also attracts visitors with its long white sand beach and rock formations of various shapes.

Only about 8 km to the northeast of Con Son main island, this destination is not only related to the history of Con Dao but also has many unique and unspoiled landscapes.

Hon Cau is well–known for being a lovely choice for young travelers and aspiring photographers to take the most breathtaking Instagram check-in pictures. The marine reserve here is home for such as giant mussels, lobsters, sea cucumbers, etc.

Especially, this place also owns a primitive coral reef with many types, colors, and rich shapes.

Hon Cau makes people fall in love with its remarkable wilderness and relaxing, peaceful natural scenery. It is also suitable for tourists who love to explore the beauty of nature and the sea with an adventurous experience.

This is one of the three places in the country where sea turtles – endangered and rare animals are living and spawning every year.

Besides, there are also some historical relics that you can visit such as Gieng Tien (or Gia Long well). According to legend stories, this is the place where King Gia Long once stopped to drink water from the well. Not only that, the Temple of Nam Hai (Temple of Ong Fish) is where fishermen in local coastal communes hold the annual Cau Ngu Festival.

Recently, the People’s Committee of Binh Thuan province has decided to rank the provincial relic for the Hon Cau landscape. This is the basis for the management, protection, and promotion of scenic value in the future.

When tourists come to Hon Cau, they will not only have a chance to the beautiful arc-shaped beach, with cool green trees, white sand, golden sunshine, and fresh air that give you a wonderful time away from the bustling city, sitting under rows of tall maple trees and breathing in the cool sea breeze.

The only way to get to Hon Cau is by boat or canoe, and it takes about 1 hour by boat or 30 minutes by canoe with a distance of 8 kilometers to the northeast.

There are not many services available on the island, so visitors who want to swim or snorkel to see the coral are required to bring diving goggles, life jackets, snorkels, hats, sunscreen, and other personal accessories.

Binh Thuan is an ideal destination for visitors to travel all year round. Determine when is the best time to travel to Binh Thuan, it is much dependent on your travel plan and activities in it. Binh Thuan climate is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season ( From June to October) and the dry season ( From November to May next year).
