Da Nang Music Gala Celebrates 50 Years of Vietnam-France Diplomatic Relations
The event was jointly organized by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO) and the French Embassy in Vietnam. The purpose of the event was to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership this year.
Ho Ky Minh, vice chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, mentioned the cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and France. He highlighted that approximately 7,000 Vietnamese students are studying in France, while French is chosen by 40,000 students in Vietnam as their second foreign language after English.
In recent years, cooperation between Vietnam and France, particularly in Da Nang, has significantly developed through various people-to-people exchanges such as cultural exchanges, meetings, art performances, conferences, and seminars.
Da Nang city has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on cooperation with Sens city and French businesses for collaboration in tourism development and market access for products.
Sophie Maysonnave, counselor of Culture and Cooperation at the French Embassy in Vietnam, stated that the music gala is one of the main cultural exchanges that connect the peoples of the two countries and promotes mutual understanding.
The event featured performances by Vietnamese artists from Trung Vuong Theater and winners of the Da Nang Francophone singing festival in 2023. French-Vietnamese musician and singer Dorothée Hannequin, also known as The Rodeo, gave a musical performance. She is also a beloved actress, fashion designer, and film producer in France.
