Vietnamese Movie Wins TAICCA Prize

The competition is part of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival that is taking place in the Republic of Korea (RoK) from June 29 to July 7.

The film project directed by Oscar Duong and produced by Hang Trinh was the only Vietnamese representative to clinch the prize in the “It Project” category. This category is for film projects that are in the content development stage.

“Sesame Has Its Soul” tells the story of Vietnamese women who immigrate to the RoK and their hidden pain when the beauty standards in the country are a great burden for Vietnamese – Korean women in particular, as well as globally in general.

At the event, film director Oscar Duong shared that he hopes the project will soon be completed and screened in both Vietnam and foreign countries in the near future.

Vietnam looking for talented foreign coach for men’s football team following Park’s departure

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced on Monday that it will end the contract with Park on January 31, 2023, closing his fruitful five-year journey with Vietnamese football that had started in late 2017. The decision means that the 2022 AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, set to take place between December and January, will be Park’s last tournament as the head coach of the men’s national football team. The VFF affirmed that the farewell to the South Korean coach, who brought significant success to Vietnamese football during his tenure, came from a mutual understanding and the desire for a prosperous future for both parties. Following the announcement, a VFF member told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the federation’s standing committee is in talks with potential candidates to find a replacement. “The new coach will be foreign, with good qualifications and a monumental résumé like our current head coach of the men’s national futsal team,” the VFF member said, re...

In Hanoi, the mooncake market is vibrant with many collections inspired by the capital’s culture. One of these collections is called Moonlight, inspired by the traditional lacquer painting “Autumn Moon Shadow” by artist Hoang Huu Van. It depicts a full moon night in August and the familiar images of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Moonlight collection features mooncakes stored in lacquer boxes made by artisans from Ha Thai Lacquer Village in Hanoi. The use of traditional colors in the packaging evokes a sense of nostalgia and brings back childhood memories of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. Another collection, called Moonlight Symphony, is released by Hanoi Daewoo Hotel. It features vibrant colors and intricate mosaic art inspired by the essence of premiu...
