Ethiopia Takes Top Spots in Men’s and Women’s Marathons in Da Nang
The participants achieved groundbreaking achievements in both the men’s and women’s full marathon, setting new records.
Takele Ebisa achieved a remarkable feat by completing the men’s marathon in a time of two hours, 26 minutes, and 11 seconds, surpassing the previous record of two hours, 32 minutes, and 16 seconds set by a talented Japanese athlete.
Ebisa was followed by Kipsang Charles Kipkorir from Kenya, and Tran Duy Quang from Vietnam.

In the women’s marathon, Birehan Marta Tinsae was the dominant runner, finishing the 42-kilometer race in an impressive time of two hours, fifty-eight minutes, and twenty-six seconds.
Vietnamese athlete Duong Thi Khanh achieved a remarkable second-place finish with a time of three hours, 12 minutes, and 48 seconds, while Japanese competitor Uchino Satomi claimed the third spot, completing the race in three hours, 21 minutes, and 24 seconds.
Vietnamese runner Pham Tien San claimed victory in the men’s 21-kilometer race, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of one hour, 17 minutes, and 14 seconds. He was closely followed by his compatriots, Le Van Thanh and Trinh Minh Tam, who secured second and third place, respectively.
Shelmith Muriuki Nyawira, a Kenyan athlete, emerged as the victorious winner in the women’s half marathon. She accomplished the impressive feat by completing the grueling distance in an incredible time of one hour, 21 minutes, and 53 seconds.
Vietnamese athletes Thai Thi Kim Ngan and Le Thi Kha Ly secured the first and second runner-up spots respectively in the race.

Participating in the Kuala Lumpur Marathon in Malaysia in late September are the winners of the 42- and 21-kilometer races.
Qualified male and female Vietnamese athletes who achieve the fastest times in the full marathon category will be awarded slots in the prestigious Sydney Marathon.
The 2023 Manulife Da Nang International Marathon saw an impressive turnout of 9,000 participants, comprising of 1,500 foreign athletes from 50 different countries and territories.
The 10th edition of the competition featured a total of five races, catering to runners of varying distances. These included a challenging 42-kilometer full marathon, a half marathon covering a distance of 21 kilometers, a 10-kilometer race, a five-kilometer distance, and a special 1.5-kilometer Ronny Dash run specifically designed for children between the ages of three and ten.
The 42-kilometer full marathon traversed two of Da Nang’s longest and most picturesque coastal roads, namely Vo Nguyen Giap and Nguyen Tat Thanh.
